Re: GP2 &GP2 Asia
YAY for Lucas!!! :cheer:
Di Grassi takes Hungary GP2 pole
July 24th 2009, 15:16 GMT
Lucas di Grassi and Romain Grosjean will start from opposite ends of the grid for tomorrow's GP2 Series feature race following a dramatic qualifying session at the Hungaroring this afternoon.
Racing Engineering driver Di Grassi backed up his pace from this morning's practice session by again going quickest, the 1m27.867s that he set 10 minutes in proving too big a hurdle for the rest of the field.
Vitaly Petrov came close, his best lap falling just 0.066s shy, and while there were signs that he had the potential to go slightly quicker, he never managed to get a clear enough lap to find out.
Nevertheless, the Russian's front row start will give Barwa Addax something to look forward to in the race, with his team-mate Grosjean again facing the prospect of having to drive through the field after crashing five minutes into the session.
Grosjean was attempting to pass DPR's Franck Perera when the pair touched at Turn 10, pitching both cars off the circuit; Grosjean's trip ending in the tyre barriers, Perera's in the gravel.
Points leader Nico Hulkenberg will start the race from fifth for ART alongside Super Nova's Luca Filippi, with his team-mate Javier Villa and Durango's Davide Valsecchi having blocked out the second row.
